Has anyone ever put the hurcliner in their truck. I wana put one in my truck but just wondering if anyone has had a problem with it and how hard was it to do. I dont wana spend the big money to have someone else do it. But I want one in my truck. My local autozone had them on sale for like 70.00 I think it was last month and I think it runs through this month. I have heard the color fades on them. But I got a tonneau cover and that shouldnt be a problem cause its on like 90% of the time. But how does it hold up? Any thoughts or any other DIY bedliners that are good and a resonable price would be alot of help. Thanks
i have a liner in my truck, but i didnt put it in. It is already chipping. IIRC you have to scuff it up a little and then put it on. I sprayed the inside of my 78 with the undercoat stuff from advance and it worked great.
I have not done it to my truck but I want to do my trailer rails and sides with that stuff. Trailer is about 2 years old and the sides are already rusting pretty good. $70.00 seems like a good price, if I remember right last time I looked it was around $90.00-100.00 for a gallon.
Ya its 70 dollars for the kit which includes the brush some scuff pads and enough liner to do a 6.5 bed I think it was. Might need some more depending on how you put the coats on. The kits is normally 90-100 but it was on sale. If its still on sale this weekend Im going to pick one up I think and give it a try. I dont throw alot of stuff in back but would be nice to have one. I have put my snowmobile in the back and the little ice studs that are built in the track put some light scratches in the bed when I tried to load it and it spun. My carbides will probably tear it up if I have to load it in again though. Just want one to make the truck look nicer too even though the bed dont look to bad for 78000 miles.
I would not recommend herculiner. I would save up and have it done right. You have to use two or 3 gallons to get as thick and protected as something like line-x and it chips really bad. I had it on my old truck and will never do that again. I will go pro from now on.
Well I wont be using it alot. I dont put my in my truck as is. Just something incase. I just cant see spending all that money into a spray in bedliner. Where I work my dad just told me cause he use to work there and didnt know about it. We build autoshow displays and one of the clients used rhino liner for something and they didnt use all of it and a bunch of people got there trucks done with the left overs. Just had to take it to a installer. I might look into that tomorrow at work. But if not I might just give the herculiner a try. Im not sure though
Yeah if you don't use it much you may be ok. But I think you're right about your snowmobile tearing it up. The stuff is pretty thin. I don't think you'll be happy with it. I'd just hate to see you do it and not like it. It'd be a bitch to tear off.
I dont want a drop in. Just never cared for them. If I do the herculiner I will probably use the gallon and buy an extra quart and use all that up so should be 4 coats i bet. Probably put 2 coats on the sides and rest on the floor. If I have to put the snowmobile in there I will just put plywood down I guess
Let me know how it turns out. I have been toying with the Idea myself. The thought of paying someone to do it but for 5-600 bucks it makes me a little uneasy. Plus if it starts chipping seems like you could just do it again and still be saving 400 bucks. Even if it only lasts 5 years each time you do it. How long do you plan on having the truck. Say you do it yourself 3 times that's 15 years. Probably be driving something else by then. I think I just talked myself into it lol.
That is exactly how I thought of it as. If it breaks or chips then just add more. I have been hearing alot of negative things about it but I think it has to do with prep work. I have seen people say that if you prep it really good and clean it then it wont chip or break. They say it takes 2.5 hours of prep time on the instructions but a couple guys said it took the 4 hours and they havent had a problem. When you think you got it good enough go over it again. I think im going to goto autozone tomorrow and probably pick one up. I will be keeping the truck till it dies. By the time I get it paid off in 3 years there will probably be 160000+ miles on it and it wont be worth anything. I just cant see spending 500-600 on a sprayed in one. I wasnt going to put the uv protecter on it but I think I will. I will take some pics when I do it. I will probably start saturday but that depends on what I got going on around here.
I don't know if they offer these where your at but I got an Arma Coatings sprayed in my bed with a lifetime warranty for $300. I got it done right after I bought my truck in 2005 and it hasn't faded chipped or anything. I throw all sorts of stuff in my bed from concrete blocks to quads. I believe they are a franchise company though because the guy here in Phoenix closed up shop. Worth a look. You could also do a bed mat. Here are a few links.
I just checked their website. The closest dealer is 200 miles from me. Sounds like a good deal. My dad just brought up rhino lining and line-x. I was like I have been hearing they are like 500 bucks. Not sure how true that price is but I seen it a few places. He was like hell I wouldnt even put the cheap one in its a truck they are ment to be used. Ya its true but I just like the idea of having one. Im thinking of picking up the Herculiner tonight or tomorrow. Unless the price went back up then I might just wait a little longer
