Sucking Hesitation
I've got a 97 F150 with a 4.6L. I just replaced the factory air intake system with a K & N Performance Air intake system and as a result of that, I have a sucking hesitation. What it is is when the engine is at idle and I hit the gas, it hesitates for half a second before the engine catches up with the gas pedal. While it hesitates, it sounds like the old motors used to when you had the breather off and romped it, how it sucked the air in but without the hesitation. At RPM, the response is fine if I fluxuate the rpms, it's just when I do it from idle. Make any sense??? Anyway, anybody got any advice?

How long have you had the CAI kit on the truck? The PCM will need to re-learn with the new CAI kit, which may take a few days depending on much you drive.
Also, it is my opinion that the "sucking" sound that are referring to was happening with the OEM intake tube... you just couldn't hear it because the OEM intake tube was so restrictive.

my 04' 5.4 superduty does the same gosh darn thing. ive replaced the IAC valve put a brand new mass air on the truck and it still does it. i even tried two different cold air kits and it does it still. only off idle when i first move. maybe someone can help us both cuz im really getting sick of this hesitation.
