Have any of you guys used the brackets they sell on ebay to mount the 351M/400 motor mounts to a plate so you can use them on a 460?? They look pretty straight forward and simple....Would love a pattern if someone has one...don't wanna spend that much and would rather make them myself anyway...LOL
You can use frame mounts for an FE engine and also the FE block mounts. The block mounts need to be altered to fit the 460 mounting pads on the side of the block. Take the 460 mount and put it up against the back of the FE mount and trace the bolt hole and drill it out with a pilot drill flip it over and take a 11/2 metal hole saw and drill down to the mount plate then pry the drilled piece out.
Yep, it works, and I've done it! FE towers-highboy frame, FE engine mounts, and 429/460 fits.
I wanted to do the swap, and found out "custom" bought mounts were very expensive, then found the found the info, did it, and no problem.
I know about the 390 mounts...my friend did his swap years ago that way....I am talking about the 3/8 plate type on ebay....where you just bolt your 351M/400 mounts to the plate....and bolt the plate to the block....They are a bit spendy on ebay...about 90 bucks...and I can easily fabricate them...I saw a post on here about them...But the user hasn't been on the list since about 2004.
