The front cab mounts on my truck are almost gone.I would like to replace them myself but cannot find any information on this repair.Do I cut the old ones completely off or do the new ones mount over them?Do I remove the cab or can it be done on the truck? Who sells a quality replacement part for this repair?Any help or advice is appreciated.
I just replaced the mounts on my '68. I found polyurethane replacements by ProThane in the JC Whitney catalogue (+/- $55.00 for the whole set).
There is a trick to removing the old rubber mounts as they are held in place by a dual washer system with one side having an integrated spacer and the other snapping into the first. They can be very tricky to break apart, albeit the foremost two can be punched out from the top with a small socket and a couple extensions. Be sure to douse the components with WD-40 prior to any disassembly.
