painting
i want to paint my truck but i am not sure what to use to take the old panit off? do u use a sand blaster or a grinder? and for putting the new stuff on should i just use spray paint or should i use a airgun???
thanks
neither!
You never mentioned if you have acsess to a good air compressor or not.
Sand blasting sheet metal can be a big mistake. It can cause distorsion, and a mess.
Grinding might be a idea.Well not really grinding,Eastwood Company has a nice paint striping wheel.
As for painting the truck.Use a good siphon feed gun or a hvlp gravitiy.Spraying it from rattle cans will be a waist of all the work you did getting ready for paint.'nuff said.

By no means should you use spray paint from a can. You will be so disappointed in the results and durability will really suffer. As previously recommended get a decent gun and compressor and use good quality professional grade paint...it's not that expensive in the long run.
sand whole truck w/ 80grit with a DA,then fix body work go after all 80g areas with 180,then shoot full coats of urethane filler primer, sand with 320,then when all body work is final, shoot another good wet coat of urethane filler primer reduced 25% and wet sand with 400 then 600.
It's alot of work but that formula i just gave will have ZERO sand scratches and will be perfect for shooting paint.
I recommend having someone else shoot it for ya but at the same time practice makes perfect.
But practice can be expensive to you be the judge when it's time to paint.
