Pictures: Gallery or External Linking?

I would like to put up the occasional technical picture to show users some vehicle modifications. I understand the concept of linking to an external location such as photobucket.

Is every user on this forum allowed to have a gallery, or is it just for paying members? The instructions seem to indicate that the gallery is not meant for public viewing. Does this mean we can't link to the gallery in a regular post? As far as I can see this site does not allow for file attachments, so the gallery seems to be the alternative.

Enlighten me please.

The gallery is for all users and I feel that it is better than using other sites to link pictures! It just takes a little getting used to when you are first trying to figure it out.

The first thing is you have to create your gallery, then you can start uploading pics from your computer into your gallery.

Go to the top of the page to "Galleries" and click on "Manage/Create",

From there you can make your gallery, then you will see the option to upload pictures. Once you have pictures in your gallery you can then copy the forum code for a picture and add it directly to your posts.

All I seem to do is end up showing a blue link, rather than the actual pic with the "visit" title as above. Where am I missing the "fourm code" in either the old original galleries or the new style albums???

All I see in my album is Picture URL & BB Code which yields blue links.

When you find your picture that you want from your gallery, directly under it you should see "Forum Codes".
When you click on that it should give you the "img" link for that pic.
It will give you one "img" link for the full size pic, and one "img" link for a thumbnail size pic.
Just copy the "img" link that you want and paste it into your post.

Thanks Greg. Going into my CP & clicking on "Edit Gallery" I found the links to the individual forum codes for the pics in an existing gallery.

One last Q & I hope I can stop acting like a total nube: There is no edit function for "Albums" in which to locate a forum code, correct?

I'm not quite sure what your asking but if it is about finding a forum code for an album then no there is no code, just for individual pictures in the albums.

I can't find forum codes for individual pictures in Albums. Individual pics in galleries, yes.

Thanks for hanging in there with this.
