When I dorve home from work last night my truck was acting kinda screwy. It was acting like I was driving with the E brake on (no I wasnt) and took forever to come up to speed RPMs seemed to stop at 2000 like the rev limiter. It wouldnt go away. A couple hours later I took off w/ it again, and it was doing the same thing rather intermitant. An hour and a half ago on the way to work it was doing it but differently. It was spiratic, it would take off tapthe 2k mark and hold right around it floor boarded, I let go of the pedal and hit it again and it would come back. Checked for codes- none. Not the EBPV its disabled and the spring on it is good, as well as it wired. Any ideas?
Drive it with the CC.
It could give and idea if its a tps issue.
Bill
ok Ive been diesel mech lond enough to know the tps and have concidered that but Im not familiar w/ your terminology of "CC" Im sure Ill feel stupid for asking but Ihavent been awake for that long yet, still on my first cup of coffee and havent actually started to do any real work yet tonight. (gotta love being in charge.)
I was driving at 65-70 on my way to work w/ the CC on and that had me right about 2k RPM and it didnt act up but it was allowiing me to get to about the that area so I couldnt judge. That and short of driving in the wrong gear or driving 70+ in a 55 testing it might be difficult. I was concidering an idea. Ive been meaning to shim my FPR lately,... started thinking if the pressure is low that would explain my trucks slower than expected acceleration of the line. (Takes about 4-5 sec floored before I need to change gears out of 2nd into 3rd.) And if the pressure is low or fluctuating badly that might explain why it would wind up to a point and stop. Any thoughts. Also should note I have a chip on the icp sensor, as well as a minor fuel leak (still havent located the exact origin) at the filter housing/ FPR regulator area, bottom of the valley towards the back of the assembly.
Could be a fuel issue but first try and get rid of that ICP thing see if it makes a dif you could also try unplugging your map sensor run it see if that makes any change check out the rubber hose between the map sensor and the manifold might be cracked or even plugged
you mention that it feels like the parking brake is on... are you sure it is not? i know that feeling. feel the rear wheels around the hub after a drive to see if it is cool, warm, or hot.
No I know its not on and Ims starting to think my turbo is dying or at least having issues. Today the truck wasnt plugged in last night I went to leave and it started well enough but there was no real acceleration for a while and I couldnt hear the turbo wind up, and just for the sake of arguement I reconnected my EBPV. Once the engine warmed up enough it was there, but It shouldnt have needed to do that. After I took out my chip It worked,... sort of. The problem wasnt there and then was there just less often. I would now say after playing with enough lately Idont think the EBPV has anything to do w/ it. But I dont think the chip does either. When it was messing up I dont know that I evr heard the turbo wind up. Today I know I didint hear it while I was standing on the floor trying to get the rtcu started up a light hill. Once I played with it some more the turbo started to fad back in and then worked. My turbo gauge is broken and I havent had the time or money to fix it yet. But with a 6" straight pipe and a 6637 intake I should be able to hear it planty well, with my window down. The turbo wasnt there. Eventually once it started working, it worked the rest of the day. Now Im trying to think of alternatives. Is there a sensor for the turbo on the TPS on these like there is on a class 8 truck? Any suggestions?
It was sunny and 50+* out side when I left at noon. It was 70+ for the high here today. And normally I drive to and from work at night as normally when Im on talking to you guys Im at work. From 6pm to 6am driving home in the teens. Now granted I only let it warm up for about 3 min vs 10 b4 I leave work. It was regestering temp on the idiot gauge, not much but more than I have when I leave in the morning. and after it was warm obviosly not cooling down too much as 1 I drove around, 2 It was 70+ outside. but in my previous events w/ this It was working and in mid throttle up simply quit and held spd. CC seems to have little effect but the speeds I drive at the cc is saet at fairly low rpm's so a minor amount of lugging is normal.
No I have a code reader and access to scanners for class trucks but not for this truck. Im not familiar w/ the map sensor on this truck or its location.
Your in Denver CO.
Your in crappy thin air. Your baro and mapp
are going to have to be spot on.
What is your min/max elevation?
Your BB mod can also be working against you.
Just wonder if you are feeling the motor fall off
peak torque with the elevation.
1.00a/r would help if this is the issue.
Just thoughts.
