Do all FX-4 come with the max trailer tow package? I know a lot of stuff is standard on the FX-4 and just wasn't sure since the sticker doesn't say anything.

 

No, not all FX-4s have the max trailer tow package, they do all have the 3.73 rear end though. If you opt for the max trailer tow package you can not get the 17 inch wheels. 18s are standard, you also get the tow mirrors and the extra leaf spring. It appears that your truck does not have the max tow package (in your pic it looks like you have the standard mirrors). However, since you have the 20 inch wheels you should have a 4th leaf in the rear and since it is the FX-4 you have the 3.73 rear end. So really the only thing that you dont have is the upgraded rear spring. (Ford's site also says something about the rear bumper being upgraded but I am not sure what the difference is.)

So no you do not have the "max tow package" but the only thing you are missing is the big mirrors (and the upgraded bumper?).

Found this on another site....not sure if the FX4 has all the aux coolers or eye bushing..

 

Probably a dumb question but would their be a sticker on the door pillar that would tell which package you have on your truck?

 

That would have been on your window sticker. Did you save that?

Absolutely. With every new vehicle I get. I don't recall that being under optional equipment, though.

 

Do you have a trailer hitch? If so then you have the Towing package. We already covered that you do not have the max tow package.

 

From looking at the build an price site all FX4, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum models come standard with the tow package. The max tow package is an option and as stated above comes with the trailer tow mirrors (the big mirrors). Your FX4 has the tow package but not the max tow package.

 

All 20's also have the 4th leaf out back. Same as max tow & 20s.

w/o the "upgreaded bumper" your max tow rating is 10,500 vs 11,500 with max tow. (Excluding the fact that you could not tow that much legally anyway...)

 

Thanks all for your replies. Just wondered since the FX-4 is weird in its own way with having standard tow package, skid plates, 4x4, etc.. I like the mirrors on mine better anyway and I won't be doing as much towing as I had in the past. Didn't need that much towing in the first place. My '04 Lariat handled all I did fine.
