Does anyone know what type of paint would have been used on an original 1959 Custom Cab (white) steering wheel? Would it have been Acryllic enamel, or epoxy? Would primer have to be used for the correct application? Thanks in advance.
Kenny
Thank you John! I'm going to go with the epoxy as you sugguested. Any tips on how to not leave any brush marks? My only experience of painting with epoxy was the floor of our plant, and I remember it being pretty thick stuff. Is it all in the brush that you use, or do you have to sand smooth and buff afterwards? It would be nice if it came in a spray. Thanks,
Kenny
Kenny, if you brush it use a real good brush fine bristle but they do make it in a spray can it is appliance paint can get it at most paint supply or hardware stores. John
Well, the wheel is all painted and it came out beautiful!! Oo That appliance epoxy paint was the perfect stuff for that application! It looks like a brand new steering wheel, and I'll bet it will last a long time too. Thanks again John!
