Power steering pump pressure?
Power steering pump pressure?
I'm looking at installing a hydraulic winch and seem to be unable to find how much the stock power steering pump puts out. The truck is a 1995 F-150 with a 351W in place of an 4.9L. Anybody got PSI and GPM numbers?
Ok, thanks maybe ill look into after market pumps or running a separate hydraulic pump. Where I plan on wheeling I'm going to need a winch that can pull all day and not have to deal with cool down periods.
Ok so now I've dome some calculations. Assuming that GPM and PSI are directly related to pull power Ive come up with some numbers.
12000Lbs pull needs 3.5GPM at 1500PSI
therefore I've concluded that
6857Lbs pull needs 3GPM at 1000PSI which is the PSI i have concluded that the pump may put out at higher RPM's
or
5485Lbs pull needs 3GPM at 800PSI which is what I have concluded the PSI to be at when near Idle.
No idea if these calculations are any bit accurate but they seem reasonable. And if they are I still have no idea where it leaves me.
Anybody have any ideas?
