Fuel Bowl, how much flow does it restrict?

I want to do a RR kit and Im leaning towards the ITP kit because of glowing reviews on this forum and it seems very clean looking under the hood. But I need to know if the fuel bowl delete is worth doing? I have 2 options for filtration if I remove the fuel bowl: Racor diesel filter that I used with my veggie system. Or I have a lead on a brand new FASS pump w/ filtration that a buddy has he never installed.

So there are really a number of questions here. Should I get the FASS pump? Is it worth it? My understanding is the FASS pump does all of the in-tank mods, removes air, provides better filtration, and flows a lot more fuel. It also replaces the 7.3 factory pump on the frame rail right?

With FASS, do I need any additional filtration like the AirDog or Raptor require? Should I leave the stock fuel bowl for extra protection even with a FASS filter system?

When does the horsepower get to the point where the flow is too high for the stock fuel bowl filter?

I plan on Stage 1 SS injectors and a Tuner (TS or DP) as soon as time and money allow. This truck is a daily driver(when I dont use my TDI) and I do tow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Yep, stock bowl isn't as restrictive as other places in the fuel system, but the bowl itself is a piece of crap. I wish I got rid of mine, as the stock bowl cracked along the bottom of the housing. I was in a pinch and needed a new one right away, so I ended up forking out $650 at the dealership for a replacement. Now I'm kicking myself for it.

Cale Thompson is running a stock fuel bowl with moderate size inlet and outlet line(s) for his truck, which is estimated at 900hp on fuel based on his times... Only delete it for looks.

You always want some sort of filtration between the pump and the injectors if you choose to remove the fuel bowl, just to keep it out of the injectors if the pump ever decides to eat itself. The Airdog is one bad bitch, i installed one on JustStroken's truck and it's a nice setup.

With the airdog you still use the stock fuel pump right? I think the FASS eliminates it????

I believe it depends on which FASS pump it is there are some that you use the stock pump with and some that you don't need the stock pump.

Airdog uses the stock pump, has connectors that hook right up to the QD inlet, it's nice. Im going to have me one sooner than later, and use a Fuelab Prodigy brushless pump though.

If a FASS eliminates the stock pump and costs about the same as AirDog and filters the same why not get a FASS? Maybe Im missing something here?? Someone chime in about FASS please

I wouldn't bother with the FASS pump. Seen way to many problems with them. Two of my friends have them and have had many issues. Both would not run them again. Plus they make quite a bit of noise... well at least the older ones do.

The one item that is good about a FASS is it is self regulated.... meaning you don't have to buy a regulated return. All you would need to do is hard line it each corner of the heads...

I still wouldn't run it though...

Airdog?
If ya get tired of paying xxx for fuel bowl filters, this just doesn't make sense except for better filtration maybe?
Are ya'll talking about this $500 system?

That is the first I have heard of not having to run a regulator with it. But that would be great and save a bunch of money on the RR kit. Anyone else familiar with this?

FASS pumps are the noisiest pieces of crap. You know you have a problem when you can hear the pump whine OVER the sound of an idling diesel from across the street, and even worse when you can hear the pump before you hear the engine as the truck rounds the corner down the street.

I've listened to too many of these noisy pumps, and I decided a long time ago I wouldn't get one..... ever.
