The last time I drove my truck I noticed the throtle was sticking so today I popped the hood to have a looksee and I found the red plastic piece on the IP that holds the spring all broken into pieces causing the throtle to jam up. Does anyone know where I can buy this piece? I am hoping that I don't need to replace the entire cable.

If the accelerator cable is defective, it's sold as a one piece assembly and is prolly available from Ford, but what year is the truck?
Post the info, I'll give you the Ford part number, and the prices.
Mine broke at a bad time, I used a Dremel with a cut off wheel and carefully cut the red plastic piece out so I could drive it until I got a replacement.
You have to be very careful to not cut the cable in the middle though.
Thanks Dave. I'll give that a try until I can get the cable replaced. I found a cable at Autopartsgiant.com for about $24 + shipping and handling. Do you think that it is a good cable? Its manufactured by Dorman. It is alot cheaper then what you paid so now I'm wondering if its junk. Where did you get yours?
I would check autozone first, I bought mine at the dealer like 60-80 bucks, I cant remember, but saw it somewhere else for like half the price.. check around if you want to save some money..
Ordered my cable today at AutoZone for $21, will be here tomorrow. Someone mentioned that the cable should have two springs. I can only find the one on the cable itself. Can't even find a spot where another spring would go. Does anyone have any pictures they could share?
One spring on the cable, two springs from the throttle linkage to the bracket in front of the throttle lever on the IP where the fast idle solenoid lives.
Mine came from Ford.
I went through a deal with E brake cables.
If I bought them at NAPA, AutoZone or Advance Auto I saved 5 dollars, but I had to replace them every year at inspection time.
If I get them at Ford, 5 dollars more for each one, but they have been on there for 5 years now and still work perfectly.
So 5 dollars more was a very good deal for me since I am about 320 dollars ahead of the game right now.
Funny thing, if you lay one from each place side by side, they look exactly alike.
