egr problems

egr problems

ok i just put my 87 f150 back together and dint think to lable the vacuum and its idleing at about 2500....and ill unhook the the iac and it will go down to like 600. but i unhooked the vac from the tree on the intake that went to the to egr which i dont think is right and the idle is back to where it should be

No that's not right. Vacuum should go to the EVR solenoid near the coil and then the output of that would go to the EGR valve.

does it matter which port on the tree it goes on the the evr? and that would cause it to idle high?

and the other two relays with the evr dont need to be used again do they.. im lost on this lol i just need to know where each needs to go to make it run smooth again thanks

does anyone know where to get a dirgram are can anyone take a few pics of it at the relays by the coil

Vacuum is vacuum so it doesn't matter where on the intake you connect the EVR. The high idle was likely cause by the fact the EGR valve was being held open by manifold vacuum, it should be closed at idle.

ok well i hooked it up to the evr and then to the egr and it still does the same.. idles really high in till i unplug the iac are take the vacumm hose off for the evr and its not clogger are nothing so maybe a bad evr??

and i fail to say when i took the egr pipe off it was packed full of carbon so maybe the egr is bad but before it was unable to pass though and now that it is clear i have this problem

The EVR is electrically connected is it?
Test the TPS, if it's out of range the computer will open the IAC trying to compensate for a probelm that doesn't exist.

i will test it tom. when i get off work i sure hope its something like that it would be nice..lol

tested the tps... and your right it was bad replaced it runs great now thanks alot for the help
