I was looking on beans diesel performance and found a quick spool turbo housing that was only around $160.00. Has anyone ever put one on and does it really make any more power. I just thought it would be a cheap upgrade if it really worked. What do you all think.
The 1.0 allows for quicker spool up time because it requires less manifold pressure to create the boost.
Will it give you more power? In the stock forum I would say yes. Having more boost at lower rpm will give you more power. However, if you are thinking about doing injectors/turbo/chip I'd stick with the 1.15 housing that stockers have.
I have a edge evo, and edge EZ on now. Also have intake, and FPR shimmed to 70 psi. 4 inch exhaust and 3 inch downpipe. So should in stick with the one i have then. Turbo will boost around 22psi now, but you really have to get after it.
It depends on what you want to do with the truck. I wouldn't say that the smaller housing is a huge performance gain. It just lets you see the boost quicker. Unfortunately, with the smaller housing you have the potential to lose performance on top end.
Sounds like you can hit some boost with your current setup. I'd probably stick with the .1.15. Are you planning on any more performance mods? If yes, I would say no to the smaller housing.
I had one with my current mods and switched back to the stock 1.15 and loved it. I bought the truck with the 1.0 on it but EGT's were pretty high. They still get high but not as quickly. If you stayed with what you have now it 50/50 whether it would be helpful. If you get a different chip like a Tony Wildman chip or bigger injectors don't get the smaller housing.
