couple questions

hello, i have a 2000 extended cab shortbox auto 7.3L and i have a few more questions.
1.) on the shifter on the steering wheel (over drive button on end). Some how the Over drive piece fell off (wasn't me who did it...) The whole end piece, from where the smaller part goes in, from there fell off, when it fell off there are 2 wires hanging there, are those for the light inside there? How would i go about putting it back on? sorry for being confusing, i'll try to put pictures up if my camera will work (was dropped in a puddle of water today)

2.) my truck is equiped with power mirrors, but they will not work now, either side, the switch seems allright, i'm wondering if this has happened to anyone here? Or how i would diagnose whats wrong?

3.) I had a thread about a aFe exhaust, but a few days after i posted it i posted again, but the thread is pages back now. I'm wondering if stacks are a better alternative to a exhaust system. I can build it myself, as i have everything but the "T", will these give me more power? or MPG? (if i keep my right foot out) Also will stacks have the nice sound of a exhaust system? i'd be using 6" stacks, connected to the factory exhaust.

As for the OD switch; yes the wires are for the OD light in the piece that pulled out. It just slides on. I have read where you would give it a clockwise quarter to lock in in but mine doesn't lock in, keeps sliding out 1/4 inch.

Your camera: Keep the batteries out of it and open it up as much as possible and shake as much water out as you can. Let it dry for a couple of days. We know what part you are speaking of in Question #1.

Question 3, it's all about what you want. Without a muffler, it will be louder. You need to find someone with a setup like you are considering and be sure it's something that you want.

got camera dried out, thanks for replys, heres some pictures.
I tried to "manually put it back on" but this is as far as it goes back, now i realize i'm missing pieces, where would i find pieces like these? The 2 very small wires (human hair size) are no good, so i cant use them anymore. Any suggestions on what to do?

I see the pics. The wires also run the OD function, so you'll either need to fix the wires, or order a new shift lever. It seems like a new lever is around $50 and is just installed with a pin after you remove the plastic housing on the steering column cover. Check with Ed FTE parts guy for pricing on this. That's where I ordered a new lever from.
