Well, I have been monkeying with the old man's 93 Caravan, 3.3 overdrive for a couple weeks now as I can, and it has improved. However, it still acts like it has a rev limiter, but it comes in to soon. I would estimate around 3 grand or so. It is not a big issue except when you really need to get into it to get moving, or deal with mountain driving or such. The MAP sensor is ok, tested with a known good one, same for coil pack and ECM. New plugs, currently no exhaust for testing. Alternator was putting out a code for no charge, no other codes. I'm running out of ideas...
Busy as heck... how you been man! This is one my dad picked up on an auction a while back, had been good til recently. It is one of a nice long list to get worked on...
Been getting by i guess, been laid off since before xmas but i dont mind. Currently busting my knuckles open on a 96 intrepid. talk about a PITA when i bought it for 200 bucks. now i am a fender and a dented door away from not knowing it was a wreck when i bought it. Runs good ! miss my truck sniff sniff !
That have the 2.7? I have been hearing they can be a turd.. hope it treats you good. Had been an old dentside around here for sale, but it may have gone. They were a bit proud of it at first, then got more real about the price tag.
Nice thing is the 3.3 is a common motor, used in both the cars and vans, much like the 3.0. My brother in law managed to trash the motor in my 94 by severely overheating it. You remember the big temp gauge those have, right next to the speedo? He apparently couldn't see it... definitely couldn't have been watching his speed. He had gotten it stuck in the ditch full of snow, and it had made a nice ice barrier in front of the radiator, but he was to ignorant to notice anything until he lost his heat...
It is part of the ECM on these. I did find the problem though, it was filings piled up on the crank sensor. Once I cleaned them off, made it much better.
