hey guys my leather is starting to crack in my 2005 limited captain chairs. I was wondering if any one has the same problem. the 3rd row and front seat are like new condition. the middle seats hardly ever gets used. Is there anything I can do to restore them?
I had the same thing happen to my 2005 Ford Expedition. It happen on the second row center seat, front upper section of the front seat. It also happen on my second row (driver side) upper section after 3/36,000 miles. I got the center seat and front covered by my warranty. It seems that ford used a poor quality leather in their cars/trucks.
I told the guys at ford I had the same problem, but because I passed the 3yrs/36,000 miles they couldn't do anything and I had to pay for it. So to answer your question. If you are not covered by the warranty, then you are out of luck.
You might want to call some auto upholstery shops and see if they can install a better quality leather in your expedition.
I didn't pay anything at first because it was covered under warranty. The other seat I left it alone. It's not so bad yet but it will start looking like your seat. I been looking around junk yards, ebay and craiglist around my area to see if anyone is selling seats.
I found some good condition leather seat covers (OEM) on Ebay. It's hard to find the grey, but you can find a lot of tan leather covers. Give them a shot. You might be able to save more money that way.
