exhaust pipe size

is the pipes before the cat on a 88 f-250 5.0 dual 2.5 inch? (that is before the flange where the cat bolts to) sorry I do not have my truck at my house or I would measure.

how I have been reading people post this y-pipe to work and it says its 2.5 inch? I just want to make sure before I buy a y-pipe.

That will require custom bent tubing. You can create an open Y-pipe from the stock piece by cutting it off right behind the first cat and removing the honeycomb.

ok and that is 2.5 after the first cat? one of the air lines going into the cat is broken making a bad exhaust leak but I can probably unbolt it and weld it.

I believe the pipe is 3" between the two cat sections where the air pipe attaches, if you want to eliminate this problem then just cut it in front of the air line.

the 2 air lines are made into the top of the first cat. so if i did that I would have to have a y-pipe.

That's interesting got a pic? This is an F250 and I know they set these motors up a little different than the 1/2 ton trucks.
