greetings, New here, like what i see so far
I have 90 f-250 4x4, lariat, trailer tow, 351 w/ manual
towing 27' trailer. the weight falls within the recommended(unless the wife packs.lol) but i would really like to get some performance enhancement recommendations. Stock EFI at thjs time.
Any ideas?
Can the electronics be fooled or is that an issue?
well i dont think its a chip i found one from the 4 wheel parts web site i think it was like 170 or something like that but it was for my 91 300 cid but im shure they have them for your truck...btw...i havent gotten it yet but i will soon
To see real gains the motor needs a cam and complete exhaust, and longtubes will deliver the most power. Advancing the timing will do exactly what a chip does and it won't require premium fuel, but you won't be able to advance it too far considering you want to tow.
true although the stuff i was thinking of wont require alot of skill...untill you know the persions abilty you must assume that he/she wont beable to swap cams and stuff like that
i've heard some good things about them my buddy put those things on his jeep and they did make a diffrence that we could feel, now sure it was the 4.0L TJ with a 5 speed but im sure that you could stiff feel the power increase with the ford too
Yes some of these parts can produce gains on other motors, but that doesn't mean you'll get the same results on these trucks, there's just too many differences. The chip will produce gains on these Ford trucks but you can get the same gains for free by manually advancing the timing. The TB spacer is a complete waste due to the design of the intake, it's dry and swirling air 15" away from the injectors does nothing but create noise, on TBI or carb motors these work well though because it promotes better fuel/air mixture in the intake. The air filter can be usefull if the motor is opened up with a complete exhaust system and a much bigger cam, but there's essentially no need for anything but a stock filter below 300hp. On top of that the oilded filters contaminate MAF sensors(this truck doesn't have one), and also let a lot more dirt into the motor, so they can be very bad.
okay i see...well then i wont get those for my truck...btw how hard is it to cam out a 300? im use to working on chevy, mopar, and the dohc 4 bangers...along with heavy equipment
Thanks Gentlemen. I was rather skepticle of the TB spacer myself, v' heard pro and cons. I could see exhaust flow helping and a RV cam, that is music to my ears.
I was rather concerned with fooling the FRED (frigin redundant electronic devices) if I cam up, sounds as if I could get away with it. I have no problem on the install. I have a 63- 3/4 4x4 that i have built engines for. Had that rig since 1979, we've been through alot together.
OK so "Longtubes" ?????????????
