Electric Fan?

I was just curious if anyone was running an electric fan in their truck. I was reading about Mustang guys using junkyard fans, and wondering if anybody found a setup that works in our trucks.

The taurus fan is the one that most of those guys use (the one for the 3.8 V6 cars in the late 80s early 90s) also the mark VII fans seem to be popular. I know the taurus fan is one of the highest rated electric fans you can be even more then the blackmagic aftermarket fans with their 3300cfm (I think the 2 speed taurus fan is 4250cfm IIRC)

Would you need the relays and controllers etc., to run a Taurus fan?

I would like to go the junkyard route if I could and free up funds for other upgrades. I have a yard where I can get parts really cheap, and sometimes free.

several ways you can do it, a couple dpdt relays and you would be good. YOu can also buy a controler or a temp switch to control the high side if you wanted, and run a manual switch on the low side. probably have less then $60 in the relays and controllers, or if you look around just find the bosch style relays in the junkyard for nothing usually and only need the switch which you could pull from the junkyard too if you know which one to grab.

I have the Windstar dual fan set on mine. The shroud is open on one end, so I had to blank it off with a piece of sheetmetal. Homemede brackets are needed to mount it and a bit of trimming is needed to make it fit properly. The Freestar is also duals and would be a better choice, as they only need trimming and brackets.
I have it setup with each fan on a relay, controlled by a Flexalite temp switch.

I'll have to dig around at the yard and see what I can find. I think I'll go with an aftermarket temp switch. Thanks.
