Got most of my harness finished and started the truck today. Po has electric fan on truck on engine side. Hooked up adjustable thermostat. Fan blows away from engine towards grill. Should this fan be on the grill side or can i reverse two wires going to fan motor hot and ground. First time dealing with electric fan. Tha nks Bob
I look forward to switching to an electric fan ASAP.
So how do you get them to read the engine temp? The sending unit in my '56 223 is really unique and I don't understand how I will not only have a temp sending unit for my original gauge, but also fit some kind of temp switch for the fans to turn on in the same hole in the head.....
I switched the wires and it reversed the rotation, But the colors are now reveresd of course. Fan black goes to blue switch and fan blue goes to ground. I think it shoudn't matter. I used one of these from mid fiftys, But this one seems to be cheaper. Probe goes in rad so you don't touch your regular sender.
Boaterbob have you had any issues since changing the polarity of your Elec. fan? I just purchased a 16" this evening and was reading over the specs and destructions before installing. Being a cheaper fan I wanted to make sure I wouldnt burn it up so figured Id hit the Forums. Any issues with yours or anyone else who have performed this same swap?
