03 injector in 05 6.0l

Been searching and found you can use either injector if you put in all 8. I would like to know if putting one 03 injector in a 05 will cause any problems.

I believe the 05 injector is updated version from what the 03 was so I think it would be a step backwards. I put injectors from an 05 in my 03.

Well I found mine on ebay. I picked them up for $400 for all eight. They had about 60,000 miles on them.

3C3Z-9E527-AE (C95) was the new part # for the redesigned 03 & 04. The difference between original C94 & new C95 was internal change to clevis. Had to do with plunger suffering from side loading which then causes raw fuel to flood and enter the engine oil crankcase. There were dimensional changes also - I justr can't recall right now the specifics.

I don't know how much they are, but Ryan Casserly (Full Force Diesel) sells some great injectors.

Put the 03 in the 05.......it will be just fine. There are no physical fitment differences, and unless the replacement injector is defective to start with, the PCM will never know the difference.

(From Ford) Along with the clevis re-design I mentioned above (which helps prevent scuffing) one additional change below:

Change in 2004 from the 2003 design:

DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) Coated
Plunger
• The injector plunger has had a DLC coating
applied to it.
• The coating will further increase the
robustness of the injector against poor fuel
quality/water intrusion and will reduce the
risk of internal scuffing.
Note: This injector has different operating
characteristics and can not be
interchanged with non DLC injectors.
Installing the incorrect injector could
cause erratic or rough engine operation.

So if I read that correctly all injectors sold in/or after 04 for the 03 motor should be the updated design. The 03 injector I have was bought new from a ford dealer in 07, used for 5000 miles then I cracked a head and put all new stuff in while i had the motor apart.

Hi,

If you are experiencing injector malfunction or failure, I encourage you to try Hot Shot's Secret before replacement if possible.

Stiction is the most common cause of injector failure in the 6.0 and Hot Shot's Secret was developed, tested and proven to remedy this condition 86% of the time and improve performance for the other 14%.

It also carries a 100% guarantee.

If you would like more info please see our website at Lubrication Specialties | Diesel Motor Oil | Primrose Engine Oil | Fuel Additives | Oil Additives | Engine Restore|

Good luck with the injectors.

Dan
