Hey guys i got quick question for ya's. i have a 2007 F350 6.0l and i just walked out to it this morining and i noticed my driver side front wheel well was a little wet. I openened the hood, an the over fill tank of coolant was a little wet around the lid. I already had headstuds and a new egr cooler installed like a month an half ago. Could it just be that it got hot and puked out the lid?
Were you towing and/or is it 'tuned'? Was the degaus bottle filled to the 'Min' level marked on it?
This happened to me last year, though there was more time between the EGR cooler and head stud installation. It turned out to be the oil cooler failed, even though I've been running a coolant filter for several years and changing it every 5K or so. It was also slowly losing coolant.
After your truck has sat overnight and is fully cooled off, get a turkey baster or something similar and reduce the coolant level to just at or slightly below the 'Min' line marked on the degaus/coolant bottle. Ford has a TSB out on this issue.
If it keeps puking after the coolant level is set properly then there is another issue.
ok i will have to get ride of the extra coolant then. Do you think that, it is the reason why it was coming out the cap.
Coolant comes out the cap due to:
1) Overheating.
2) Using a tuner - which creates more internal motor heat.
3) Plugged up oil or EGR cooler due to "sediment in cooling system".
For example... my coolant never rises more than 1/2" when fully hot... so for it do develop extra pressure, steam or the like... it is coming from somewhere else it shouldn't.
