The platinum works out to only about 3k more but you get. Better leather, better quality interior parts, power running boards, power adjust steering column, auto wipers, more sound proofing, different dials, loads of little cosmetic changes and some other bits I'm sure other people will mention.

I would think equally equipped, there would be about $2,000.00 difference. The Platinum has:

* better and more leather
* brushed Aluminum on the interior instead of painted plastic
* forged aluminum wheels
* slightly different dash
* auto fold out running boards
* body colord bumpers
* auto folding side view mirrors
* rain sensing windshild wipers
* satin finish tailgate panel
* unique and satin finish grill

Did I miss anything?

For me it was not worth the extra cash for the following reasons:

* I like the 20" aluminum Lariat wheels better
* don't care about the fold out running boards, rain sensing wipers or folding mirrors
* don't care about the tailgate finish

I do however like the interior better, but not 2K better.

Does the King Ranch carry the same quality leather and interior finishes as the Plat? No one ever talks about the KR. I think it's agreat looking truck.

Thumbs up

My choice would be a loaded King Ranch !!!!!!! My wife has one, it is NICE. When I get rid of my present truck, the KR will be my work truck !!!!!!!!!!!

My SD was a King Ranch. I absolutely LOVED that leather. If I hadn't been in a situation where I needed a new truck right away, I probably would have looked into ordering a King Ranch instead of my Lariat, but I am still very satisfied with my Lariat and the deal I got.

The KR leather in my SD was as good a quality leather as I have seen in ANY vehicle. The only draw back is that it needed to have conditioner applied every 1-2 months to keep it from drying out.

Everyone who ever rode with me in that truck complimented the leather as soon as they got in.

The quality of the leather in the KR would equal the leather in the Platinum (not sure how the Platinum leather ages), but all else is in the KR is the same as the Lariat. The Interior in general is better in the Platinum.

I would guess the KR option would add 1.5K an equal Lariat and the Platinum would add 2.5K.

Okay, I have the answers; maybe

My truck = $40,430.00
My truck with KR options = $42,705.00
Platinum with my truck options = $43,215.00

Keep in mind my truck is a 4x2 with a 5.5 bed; see my sig for options. All the numbers came from the Ford Build Prices.

I'll still take my truck.

yeah about 3k more as mentioned, I priced them all out as well. A similar equipped Lariat and FX4 Luxury model priced out about the same, and then the same truck but Platinum is about 3k more. I added a little to my down payment and still have a reasonable monthly payment with my Platinum.

The only issue with the Platinum leather is it's way to soft and not very hard wearing. already i have scuffed the leather twice on driver side getting in and out. Im gonna bring this up with them when it's in for service next as i think the leather needs to be a bit tuffer really. We have very soft leather in our Ranger rover sport and that has been abused and never scuffed up once.

You can get a front leather bench seat and 18" wheels in the lariat, but not in the plat. In my opinion a truck should have the gearshift on the column not on a console. The lariat is the only model with a leather bench seat option.

Leather bench seats are great if ya need them but i work for my self and im the only one in my truck. Because of that reason i prefer to have the shifter between the seats and the extra storage areas.

Please let us know what they say about the "soft" leather.
