I am no green freak, BUT, if our teachers, jet pilots, professors, mathematicians, can be astronauts, and go into space, and those professional people, with this mission, have equipment that allows them to recycle URINE into a potable, drinkable water, HOW, can we mortal oil burners, not expect the same for our atmosphere??????? I rest my case.

My point, simply, there is no more "unregulated environment". WE ALL SHARE the air we breathe, and the water we drink. Tough to fight that premise.

part of my job is to be a green freak.

did you know, that ONE large volcano erruption puts more particulate matter in the air then any amount of cars ever have.

there needs to be a balance and compromise.

Well I can talk a lot about diesels. I can talk a lot about ex wives. But I will be damned if I will say one word about volcanos, because, when I meet the maker, and it will be HIS way, and HE created, and I believe, there will be NO "balance and compromise"! Although living in MACON, GA, the multi church capital of the world, I still participate in adult beverage, know most four letter words, want grand kids to ride dirt bikes, believe deeply that you can, with education, have oil free hands and finger nails!

All they will need to do is convince Ford or GM to want an inline six engine and move production to Mexico, China, etc. to be cost competitive.

I disagree completely. Said it once, and I will say it again. After the recession, buy the best, Ford will still be in, but Toyota, will be Toy - o - ta: Follow this company. History and success lead them, oh, and financial strength:

PACCAR Receives J.D. Power and Associates Founder’s Award

ORLANDO: 16 February 2009 — J.D. Power and Associates presented the prestigious Founder’s Award today to PACCAR for its long-standing commitment to customer satisfaction in the commercial-vehicle industry.

Gary Dilts, senior vice president of global automotive operations at J.D. Power and Associates, presented the award to Tom Plimpton, PACCAR vice chairman, at the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association 2009 Heavy Duty Dialogue event in Orlando, Fla. PACCAR manufactures light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, and owns
the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF brands.

“The Founder's Award signifies truly outstanding achievement, and we are pleased that PACCAR joins a select list of world-class customer-focused organizations that set the standard for all businesses,” said Dilts.

The Founder’s Award is a discretionary award presented periodically that recognizes individuals or companies demonstrating dedication, commitment and sustained improvement in serving customers. During the 40-year history of J.D. Power and Associates, only 23 companies or individuals have previously received the award. Past honorees include Toyota Motor Corporation, The Ritz Carlton Hotels, USAA and Progress Energy.

PACCAR brands have consistently received awards for customer satisfaction with product and dealer service in two annual J.D. Power and Associates studies—the Heavy-Duty Truck Customer Satisfaction Study and Medium- Duty Truck Customer Satisfaction Study.

“PACCAR has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction, which requires focus and commitment at all levels—beginning in the boardroom and extending to employees and dealer and supplier networks,” said Dilts. “PACCAR is dedicated to providing superior products and service and is also engaged in
efforts to reduce emissions and enhance fuel efficiency in its vehicles, with the goal of protecting and preserving the environment. The organization’s concern for its customers and the communities it serves is a reflection of PACCAR’s 103-year history built on integrity, quality and continuous improvement that benefits companies
around the world.”

PACCAR is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of high-quality light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates. It also provides financial services and information technology and distributes truck parts related to its principal business. PACCAR shares are listed on the NASDAQ Global Select Market, symbol PCAR, and its homepage is PACCAR Inc is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of high-quality light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates. buy the best...who says the best wont be toyota?

I really really hate to say it but , if they get thier crap together, they can really make moves, they have the foresight, engineering and funds...

they just dont have the "work truck" knowledge.

when we asked ford who thier biggest threat was, they said toyota, now that says something.

Bobby,

Why are you here? why dont you go haunt the DODGE site? I have never understood why there always has to be one DODGE guy who does nothing but bash FORD. Its like you have to justify your purchase of a DODGE, maybee your feeling guilty about it. But what ever the reason you are a big DOWNER. You dont even OWN a FORD, you work somewhere that apparantly does.

There is plenty of BAD PRESS out there on your beloved Cummins engine, I'll bet even more than our 6.4, so what gives?????? Tell us why your engine sucks? and the truck its wraped in? Be honest!

Bobby works on a fleet of trucks and seems pretty knowledgeable. Sure his personal preference is a Dodge but in reality he is a Ford man that just hasnt come out of the closet yet. I can take a few jabs to the ribs every now and then. I spend my summer days at the race track where brand bashing was invented. Its all in fun.
With 70+ Fords in his fleet he should have lots to report on. If he has 2 bad ones out of 70 then its good news. If he has 60 bad ones out of 70 then lets diagnose why these trucks are so bad. Its real world data that none of us can acquire with just 1 truck. So what if he drives a Dodge. Its not the first time someone on here compared my Ford to a Chevy, Dodge or God forbid even the Toy truck. As soon as Bobby's Dodge breaks down and one of those Fords come to rescue him he will join our forces and become a jedi master. Have faith.

have you read some of my posts??? if you havent you should, I outline good and bad stuff with any truck, research before you start pointing fingers my friend. (and you might learn something)

if you think that my trying to educate people is bashing then you need to pull your head out.

I am on the dodge boards just as much as on this one and I LOVE to hear about bad stuff that is happening with the cummins, my job is to be ahead of problems and to be proactive.

btw, I have a FORD at work a DODGE in the driveway and a CHEVY in the shop (racetruck), and ive prob owned more vehicle brands than anyone Ive ever met.

Way to go Bobby Light! If the bad guy would have checked a couple threads he would have seen that I already called you a full fledged TROLL and then apologized publicly in several forums, that I was dead wrong.

We are patiently awaiting your oil analysis info. Keep up the good work. Best, Rich

Container ships diesels are also 20-30% more efficient then any diesel that is or was in a pickup.

"One reason: cargo ships run on "bunker fuel," the dirtiest, cheapest product that remains after gas and other high-grade fuels are refined from crude oil. Bunker fuel contains up to 5,000 times more sulfur than diesel. As a result, according to Bluewater Network, a division of Friends of the Earth, a single container ship emits more pollution than 2,000 diesel trucks."
How companies are driving down the impacts of shipping | By Joel Makower | Grist | Toiling Point | 23 May 2006

That sounds like a lot, but when you consider that a cargo ship can carry 11,000+ containers, it still pollutes less then a truck
