I have a 98 E350 van with a V10. It leaked coolant into a cylinder, hydraulic locked, and now has a rod knock :-(
I'm looking for a good running engine or very good short block. Yes mine probably could be rebuilt but the expense is more than a good used engine. I need the van and an engine swap is faster than a rebuild.
Please let me know what you have and how much you want for it?
Thanks.

Keep price discussions in PMs, although the poster has less than 25 posts, so post here saying you might have something, and figure out a way to discuss prices off the board.
I was going to say that you should figure out what the exact problem is before you go and just swap the entire engine by taking down the pan and checking the rod bearing, but since it hydrolocked you probably have a bent rod or cracked piston.
Thanks for the replies so far.
Yes I'm a newbie here. Everyone here was a newbie at one time :-)
I am looking locally. Car-part.com shows a couple within 50 miles of me.
I'm not a kid. I'm 57 years old and have been building and drag racing push rod engines for 40 years. This will be my first modular engine tear down.
The problem is it is in a van. I can't drop the oil pan. I'm 99.5% sure it is a rod knock.
Is there a web site or forum discussion about how I would go about getting the engine out of my van? Looks like a pain in the butt to me.
A few years ago I pulled and replaced a 460 from a 1985 van. I had to remove the front of the van and pull it out the front. Wasn't fun at all ... It went in alot easier than it came out though.
I once did a 1982 van - you really have to take off everything in front of the engine.
Just checked my Ford service manual CD for 2001, which includes the E-series.
Says to remove the intake, grill, radiator and supports, headlights, basically everything in front of the engine. It also mentions a special "modular lifting bar" which I take to mean it doesn't use a chain, but a bar that bolts to the top of the motor that is then inserted into the end of, or bolted to, an engine crane.
Well, I weld and fabricate, so it sounds like I'll be making some sort of lifting bar...
Anyone know of where I can find a picture of said device?

The only thing my service manual shows is the front of the bar where it bolts to what appears to be the lower alternator mounting holes, or maybe a timing cover bolt too.
I have to agree with hydro_37, I'd see if there's enough room for a chain, or one of those fancy-shmancy tilt bars. With the intake out of the way, and the high valve covers of the OHC engine, there's a lot of room for it.
