Ok i have a 72 f100 frame and i am putting a 8" lift on it. i want to keep with coils, and i don't want to do drop rad. arm brackets (l just don't like the look) is there any one that has made rad arm's or knows of a company that makes them that correct the camber prob. and keep them in the same mounting location. also will the full sized bronco arms work or are they different.
there are some minor differences between the earlier and later arms, but if you get the coil buckets and the arms you should be able to use them... get some 7* bushings for the radius arms and with 8 inches of lift it sould be ok..not perfect but ok... ive seen people run the 7* bushings with the 9 inch spriings, does not flex very good but it works... why not use some extended arms with that much lift? or check out cage..http://www.cageoffroad.com/
the 7* bushing and the original rad arms is what i was going to do. but when i put it together it rolls my axle so i get to much way positive caster. also it angles my spring perches and finally it pulls my axle back about 1 to 2 inches. i don't see how people are doing 8" or 9" springs with original rad arms and not drop brackets.
i don't want to do drop brackets because it will look horrible.
if i do a long arm kit i have to cut off my arm bracket. this might be different for the bronco's but my bracket and cross member are mounted at the same place. if i remove the rivets it will drop the cross member and then i will have to bolt the cross member back in. i don't like the idea of the cross member being bolted.
yes, it also will make the coil springs sit like this ( from the side view.. i made my own arms and kept the mounts in the stock location. if you make your own arms you can set the axle right where you want it.. and can make the camber whatever you want by changing the angle the arms hit the axle.. here is a write up i did over on FSB.com of some radius arms i made FullSizeBronco.com - 78 - 96 Ford Bronco offroad club, forums, tech, installs i would build them alittle different if i was to do it again...
nice write up hav24wheel,
some them guys at FSB seemed to bust your ***** a bit,
typical, some folks know everything till ya give them some steel and a welder and tell them to do it
Thanks, I've done a couple build threads over there. you should have seen the remarks when i brought up the idea of my TTB Van. lol but everyone gets a hard time from someone. (hell i've given people a hard time once or twice.)
thanks a lot. the last one you did is what i was planing if i had to make my own (not a good wielder at all). but i was just going to us square tub steel. and that was a good wright up on what you did and how it worked.
