Operation TEABAG
There's a storm abrewin'. What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet? Washington has forgotten
they work for us. We don't work for them. Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer.
I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan.
I am sick of Congress raking CEO's over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes. I am sick of the bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar.
I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford.
I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes. I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen. I pay my taxes. I live on a budget and I don't ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make. I have emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first.
No one listened. They voted for it, pork and all.
O.K. folks, here it is. You may think you are just one voice and what you think won't make a difference. Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!!
If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes. If you are fearful of the fallout from the reckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and "stimulate" without accountability and responsibility then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA. There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens.
What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.
So, here's the plan. On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington D.C. You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just send a TEABAG.
Many cities are organizing protests. If you simply search, "New American Tea Party", several sites will come up. If you aren't the 'protester' type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG. Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way. Yes, something needs to be done but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes. This was not my idea. I visited the sites of the 'New American Tea Party' and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1?? We want them to reach Washington D.C. by April 15.
Will you do it? I will.
Send it to:
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington , D.C. 20500 .
Forward this to everyone in your address book. Visit the website below for more information about the 'New American Tea Party'. I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelope ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1. Can't guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready. What will this cost you? A little time and a 40 something cent stamp.
What could you receive in benefits? Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people.
Take out the Pork! Tell us how the money is being spent. We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY.

Or just don't pay at end of year and when they try to put you in jail file discrimination because you are not getting same treatment as government officials.
okay I am out of dreamland.....I dont think a teabag would work. They really dont care about us...they dont give a hoot about my problems or yours. How can someone who eats gourmet meals every night understand what it is like when you feed your kids Kraft mac and cheese and hot dogs for the fourth time this week. How can someone who drives a vehicle they do not even have to pay for, pay insurance on or fill with gas understand that your car is getting repoed, or you have to drive without coverage or you cannot buy your kid their birthday gift because you had to put gas in your car to get back and forth to work.
If everyone sent teabags the White house chef would put them in nice tins and save them for white glove teas hosted my Michelle. because no one in DC or any government office gives a dang about our lives. They have a paycheck they don't have to do a hell of a lot for. They have their medical, dental etc. They get to have heat in winter and cool in summer when so many little people do not and its the little people who are paying for it.
So take your tea bag to a local food bank. at least it would be put to good use and appreciated.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
We could all stand on the front steps of the white house and plead our case and the millions would be ignored by the hundreds in office.
If you want to know how to hit them hit them with their perks but who would take them away because they are all enjoying the perks at no expense of their own.
What interests me, though, is that some of these threads are allowed to survive for a while, while others are not. It could be attributable to the moderators just not noticing yet, or possibly they agree with the tenor of some threads versus others, but that leads to a degree of subjectivity that is inherently inequitable. Personally, I think this whole 'censorship for the sake of family friendliness' is questionable in the first place. While I can see that minors might have some interest in trucks, I don't see the 'teletubby' and 'elmo' crowd tuning in for much of anything we have to say. Now, there are teenagers that could be tuning in, and that does present some degree of issue. I would contend, however, that at that stage in life that their parents should have given them the life lessons they needed by then, and they (with their parents guidance) would be able to choose for themselves what to read, and what not to read.
I know....not specifically thread related, but the context of the thread is going to eventually be subject to lock or deletion anyway, as these subjects do tend to solicit empassioned responses, which is by policy, a "no-no".
Besides, does anybody think that the Secret Service wouldn't have something to say to a webstie that fosters the movment of the general public sending in thousands upon thousands of envelopes with a powder-like substance in them? Granted, the discussion is about tea, and we all understand it's relevance to the concept of rebellion against a tyrannical government. The opposite side of the coin, however, is that all of those envelopes would then have to be scanned for hazardous materials, as those charged with the protection of the president can't say "oh, we know they're all just tea...we can let every single one of them through". That's ludicrous....why?...because while everyone may be engaging in what they think is a harmless way of letting their elected officials know they're displeased, a less benevolent individual may seize the opportunity to send something in the mail that is decidedly more harmful, gambling on the possibility that the secret service would be so busy checking everything, that it would have a better chance of passing through.
That, is precisely why I'll not be engaging in the "operation teabag" behavior. Don't get me wrong, I agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly, but the method in how it's being carried out, will tax security personnel beyond acceptable limits, and open a door for those that literally wish to do harm. If people want to send a message that's loud and clear, then either write it down and send it in the mail, or do it in the open for everyone to see if it is symbolic like the use of tea. Our forefathers used the cover of night to go onto the ships and dump the tea, but they still did it themselves....my suggestion is, don't let the US Postal Service make your rebellious act for you unless your mail is simply written word.
Well, looky there! I responded to this thread anyway...I guess I couldn't hush my mouth.
