Drive shaft is finally straight according to Ford Tech with the help of a carrier bearing drop bracket. It DEFINITELY rides a lot smoother, HOWEVER there is an OCCASIONAL shuttering /stuttering between 20 - 40mph that has me CURIOUS!
Any thoughts???
Got my new rear leaf spring ack installed today with a 2 inch block in the back. Although it is a little tighter, I definitely like it!
wait till you get the tires on before addressing any addional shuttering. Might be your current tires. I would suggest a alignment as well with the new tires.
Did you get a dual steering stabilizer? You will need it.
The OCCASIONAL shuttering /stuttering between 20 - 40mph that has me CURIOUS I wrote about in the first part of this thread tripped the check engine light this morning while I was driving and the truck slowed to a CRAWL.
Does anyone have an opinion (professional or from experience) on a 1 piece driveshaft? Is it worth it? Does it help?
I simply do not understand why people have lifted COUNTLESS 2008 F250's and yet I am having SO MUCH heartache.
Just left Ford and they are definitely getting an appreciation letter from me on my business letterhead. Whether they have fixed it or not only time will tell, but they are treating me like royalty and are very patient and sympathetic to my issues.
The Director of Fixed Operations over three Ford Dealerships in the area has gotten involved and been SO pleasant!
The tech drve around with me for about an hour with his laptop hooked up to my truck and THINKS a part of my issue is that the transmission shift points are all screwed up due to bigger tires, drivetrain issues, etc. We sat at the dealership together for about 30 minutes after the drive talking as he was re-programming different modules in my truck.
Left about an hour ago and have put about 30 miles on the truck with no issues.
I would think that because you have a crew cab truck, you really can't use a one-piece drive shaft. The longer the distance from the transmission / transfer case to the rear axle, the more you need multiple pieces in the drive shaft. Even my regular cab has a two-piece drive shaft. Maybe DCSpecial will chime in and provide more insight...
Most likely you will need to return to the dealership to have your speedometer and transmission recalibrated after you mount the 37" tires. It sound's like you have a very customer friendly dealership so that shouldn't be a problem. Keep us updated and post pics when you get the tires mounted!
Certainly will post pictures as soon as I get them. Suppossed to be tomorrow morning, but my little girl is sick so I may be staying home with her in the morning.
I would love to hear DC's opinion on my situation and what his thoughts are on the problems I've had with loose pitman arm nut and cluncking in transmission.
Tech at Ford said he didnt have the software to change it any higher than 35's and suggested I look online, BUT to be careful to only do that and not do any type of power programmer.
This forum is AWESOME!!
I wish I could help others as much as I've been helped!
