Rear door panel removal

Anyone have instructions or advise on getting inside the rear doors. Something is wrong, the window wont go down. The manuals at AutoZone and Advance are no help as the doors in those manuals don't even look like my doors. Trying to fix it on the cheap. HaHa

Sorry bout that. I'm a little stupid. Its a 2006 explorer xlt with the pull up handles. I see the two screws at the bottom and will probably try them tomorrow and see how far that gets me.

The '04 manual shows:

1) Remove bezel around handle

2) Remove switch bezel (I think the tabs are forward) and unplug it

3) Remove screws behind handle bezel and at bottom

4) Pull panel straight up to remove, using armrest to free the clips

Hopefully, this is close to what's needed for your '06 - let me know how it goes.

Yep, that's the way to get in. They both popped off with a putty knife in the edge. No problem. However when I got to the switch, I found that I don't have any power to the switch. The fuse panel under the dash is inaccessable for me with my limitations so I guess I will have to take it to the Ford dealer. Jeeezzz, no telling what that will cost !!!

Thanks again for the info.

You might have better luck at an automotive electrical shop, and probably less $$$ also.

I just remembered that when Camping World installed the EvenBrake system, they mounted the transmitter on the kick panel down by my left foot. After installation the right side passenger window didn't work. I removed the screws that secured the transmitter and that window started working. I'm thinking that there may be more damage to the wiring behind the kick panel. Now I've got to figure out how to remove that panel. I think I remember trying at that time but never did figure how to get it off, will probably try tomorrow.

I guess some "techs" don't bother checking for wiring behind a panel before driving in screws; makes you wonder how they justify their high labor costs.
