Mine was sanded down back in November, rust inhibitor applied and repainted, popped up in December.
That was my concern...I took it to the local Ford Dealer/Bodyshop today and they suggest cutting out the entire wheel well on either side-not just the upper wheel well arch..then welding in new pieces and then refinish...$1500 was the estimate...
I might look for another bed, but my concern is that another bed is just going to do the same crap...at least if they cut out all the rusted areas on my bed and that sound deadener/foam is not put back in I should be all set? that is my logic anyway!!
You could replace the entire bed with a new take off for $1500 or less. It would be even greater if your truck is white, since most beds Ive seen are white. When doing a restoration, there is no better that brand new factory issued panels and paint. The problem is when your truck was new, rustproofing was not done. The wheel well area drains became clogged, and that area was then always damp with mud, etc to the point of rust holes. if you replace the bed, you have replaced the area of concern to factory specs. .
