I need a winch bumper for an 06 f350 4x4 dually.
I cant afford the Road Armour, so forget that!
I have two winches...a 12,000 and a 9500 warn.
Any experience? Anyone running the Warn Hidden Kit?
or the new Transformer? I think I like the stainless
transformer...............
Again...any help at all. Pictures? Opinions? Experience?
I had a Warn Transformer on my 04 SD. It was the stainless version, it was awesome...a little pricey. I would like one also but I dont think it will work for me when I out the plow on. Its not the easiest to take on and off but it sure looks sharp. I would use the 12k winch for sure. The only issue that I had with the Transformer was the powder coated pieces rusted quickly. I removed them and had them re done and they were ok after that. I would not hesitate to install another one on my 06 but like I said I dont think it will work with a plow.
15k pounds is the full capacity with one layer of cable and the winch motor pulling 200A+. Buy a winch with higher capacity and it will pull an 8000lb vehicle a lot better than a 8000lb winch.
I like it because it doesn't change the look of the front at all, except you can see the receiver poking out of the lower front opening. The winch rides in a box in the back of the truck where it isn't exposed to road crap and mud and dirt and stuff, and I can pull from the front or the rear.
You do have to take the license plate frame off, but there are a lot of nice accessories, like
I even took a set of good 4 gauge jumper cables, cut one end off and soldered a quick connect to it, so I can use them without opening the hood.
I dunno if this is something your interested in. And I'm not necessarily promoting e-trailer.com, they are just easy to link to. But I do like this setup.
If you really want some sort of front bumper grill, guard, etc. A friend of mine has a front grill with a front receiver built in and he's done the same as I have with the winch plate and quick disconnects, etc. I don't know where he got the front grill bumper though.
If you have a conventional hitch travel trailer, this setup is also nice for maneuvering it. Just put a regular drop hitch in the front receiver, hook the trailer up to the front and you can put it damn near anywhere while looking right at it, instead of over your shoulders and in the mirrors.
That is an awesome bumper. Might be a little pricey for me though.....
The price should be $1,347.00. The Road Armor is $1,995.00. In my conversations with the owner of the company last year, you can also get a 10% discount if you purchase both front and rear bumpers. I would need to confirm this with the owner since it's been almost a year since our conversation. However, the prices are current.
The owner stated that he would need to purchase unique parts from his supplier to manufacture the bumper. He requested a minimum of three units. He already has the blue prints but the bumper was never put into production. If we can talk him into making the bumper, we will be the only one's (initially) to have a bumper like this anywhere in the US. I am reluctant to stated the name of the company (although it is obvious) because I do know not if they are FTE sponsors. However, if there is an interest, I will contact the owner and have them join FTE so that we can openly discuss this potential bumper. The rear bumpers are already in full production.
