Exactly! Thats pretty much what my terminations look like. My truck isn't anywhere close to being stock but I didn't want those big plastic connectors jutting out all over either. I tried to keep all my wiring down low and out of site. All engine connections come up from the bottom and are mostly hidden. I didn't bring the wire harness through the firewall in the factory location, mine comes through down low on the passenger side near my starter.
Rusty,
Just grab a cheapo pistol grip style from Radio Shack. I have one from Radio Shack, an Archer I think, that I bought back in the early 80's. I've never had a problem with it. Heck, I've heard of people having good luck with the real cheapo from Harbor Freight. No sense in spending the big bucks on a Weller if you're not going to be using it everyday.

That's tempting. I'm feeling kinda thirsty and I've never been up your way....if only I didn't have to do this work thing everyday...ugh
I have a weller butane torch that is great and heats up quick but kinda pricey. Hard to beat a weller. If you have a iron and the tip is corrioded then take a damp rag and wipe the tip of it, that should clean it pretty good (thats sounds dirty don't it). I have used solder from Home Depot, Fastenal, and Radio shack with success. Just try to get the flux core solder and be patient.
this is the one area ive got coverd when my dad died i got all the wireing stuff from his buisness ive got 100 of lugs crimpers molex plugs 2 rolls of shrink and a weller soldering station
