Last time i overfilled a tranny i use a drill powered pump from walmart but u can use just about anything that will create a suction or u can just siphon it out but be carefull not to swallow tranny fluid and yes overfilling is not good at all i have blown a tranny because of this get it out as soon as possible
Crud, was afraid there was going to be a good reason to fix my mistake. Wish there was a drain plug to make this a little easier.
My local jiffy lube has a vacuum tool they put down my filler tube when mine was overful. You could probably do the same with a drill pump.

i've heard of a kit you can buy to put a drain plug in the pan on your trans... not seen one yet but someone at work said he did it to his chevy and its very simple to do... may look into that also
An easy way that requires minimum tools is to loosen one of the trans cooler lines, then start it up and let the line "leak" into a drain pan.. If you have an aux. cooler you should be able to just loosen the clamp on the rubber hose and slide the hose off the line, might get a little messy but it is CHEAP!!!!
