I don't know if the way I did it was kosher for this site, but, all I did to attach the picture was type the following (remove all the *'s for it to work), and turn off the option to 'automatically parse links in text' at the bottom of the page.
still wondering about what those two hoses connect to... and now that i have the temp sensor... where does that go?
This is the sensor they sold you, right?

If your truck is running correctly, other than the guage indicator wigging out, I wouldn't replace the sensor. I'd take it back, and get the temperature switch.
Beastly...I have only posted pics from the gallery...so I have to upload them there...but your trick worked.
Looks good to me.
fkaster01..you can do them the way i did if you take a pic then upload it to the gallery and from there you can use the code(there's a code tab) to post them...or use autozones pic the way beastly did
thats the part they sold me... great link by the way. looked on there for where that sensor goes and couldn't find it... still not sure how that switch hooks into the two hoses, guess i'll see that when i get it off, hopefully tomorrow if it stops raining for a minute...
If you can find the pic of the part you have on a website. post the link here and we could see it that way.
I was trying to find sensor pic as well. the sending unit pic and specs were under..engine electrical/..then sending units &sensors

I was just out trying to get a photo for you, but, my camera doesn't work well at night.
The two hoses are just in the way. I think you should be able to get a wrench/socket on the sender without disconnecting them, unless your setup is not like mine.
i'll have to look at it again tomorrow when i get the air hoses off... but it looked like the two hoses were connected to the part i needed to take out... i hope this thing hasn't been rigged up somehow... hate it when people do that then i have to figure out what the hell is supposed to be going on

I would agree with beastly...I think the sensor is for the pcm...if I'm wrong, someone correct me....whereas the sending unit send signal to the gauge.
edit: beastly...by temperature switch....do you mean the sending unit????
i'm so glad i found this sight... i've learned more from you guys in the last week then i've learned reading the whole stupid haynes manual... thanks again
It's an awesome site. We all learn from each other....
I spent the better part of the last two days trying to solve a problem of my own with a lot of help from folks here. I try to help others when and where I can. Also I think the link I sent you is a step up from the haynes manuals....I never found that the haynes manuals had the right pic...or proper instruction.
Anyway..enjoy that link. and hope you solve your problem soon.

Yes indeed. Two names for the same thing-a-ma-bob, as near as I can tell.
