Herei how I atached my license plate bracket, not thru the bumper. Joe The taillights are 33 Ford, the brackets 53 turned side for side. Yep, the fenders are the wide fiberglass. Joe

Ummm! I guess you have to search for "rear license bracket" since I have already posted the picture there. I don't know how to move it to this post, but I can't get it to upload to here. Joe

My rear crossmember was moved all the way back to make room for my 21 Gal. tank. I bent two simple "L" brackets out of stainless to bolt the plate to, and then bolted them up to the bottom of the crossmember.(my rear fenders are also 3" wider fiberglass)

Tag location is going to be my problem after altering the stock rear brackets. I have a 1955 florida tag (long and skinny) and I like it's present location and can think of no other where it will look good Even on Wayne's awesome truck, I don't care for the tag hanging under the bumper, I just don't know where else to put it. I am also going to have to reconfigure my exhaust, because as is, the tips exit under the bumper. I am actually thinking of having them exit out the side under or thru the running boards.I have some new cast aluminum Pontiac oval tips. (Grand Am, Gran Prix? you've seen them) This would free up the rear to fab up an under the bed spare tire hanger.

Wayne, I was thinking; we'll just tape the tags in the back window!

So it"s apparent .., when installing the snugger brackets, the stock taillamp/tag bracket creates interference issues with the bumper...because the bumper is now closer to the body, least that"s what I"m seeing.
The solution can be as wide and different as each individual.
Joe, I could not find your close-up Pic ,But your install looks cool, and is one option.
Wayne, I"m following you on theframerail/fuel tank issue, I did the same..if I could just keep it simple...
Jim, is that a trailer hitch I see sticking out of the center of your bumper?...well that does complicate the issue...You skinny-water Redfish/Snook fishing guy"s in Florida make me sick....

I haven"t seen Jon (CIAF) on here in a while, but I remember seeing his tag recessed..in a tag sized box, into his tailgate..there"s another option.Might be worth it to look up his gallery.

Back to work for now, later........

Ok, let's see if this works.

Thanks Don, I am using Pros Pick nylon button latches. No igenuity, just a few $'s.
Airwick here is a picture of my bracket. What you see[taken from behind the driver side rear tire looking to the rear of truck] is a 1 1/2 " aluminum angle bolted to the bumper bracket bolts, 1" aluminum tubing bolted to the angle, two steel straps bolted to the tubing and license plate frame. This allowed the plate to display behind the bumper without drilling holes in the bumper. I used the materials because they were at hand and I had loaned my welder to a friend two hours away. Hope this helps with an idea as to how to do yours. I am sure that my plan came as a result of info posted by others on this site.

I don't know if these are the same brackets you guys a talking about. But when I bought the truck I noticed the bumper brackets had 2 sets of mounting holes. Below is a picture after I relocated the bumper to the second mounting point which raised it up about 1.5in and tucked in about 1.5in. I did run into the problem of it covering the licenes plate but I tucked it in under the tailgate, considering it doesn't open anyway do to the zip-ties holding it close. Zip-ties you got to love m'.

For pictures open a "www.photobucket.com" account it's free and easy!!!!!

Mertz, You are correct, Sir. That is a hitch poking out the back. I am strongly considering removing it, as i never use it. I'd ahve to have new pipes bent and raise them up as well. Yes, I am one of those skinny water fishermen and I do some guiding on the weekends. My FTE buds visiting down here fish for FREE!

Rodney..mid fifties sent me the tucked -in brackets by mistake, for my 56 that I got from you. It is 80% done.....anyway......I liked the look so much...I kept them.
Only problem was that the stock license plate won't work correctly.....bumper touches it.
I will figure out what to do later.......the tucked-in bumper is nice!
