power door locks

I know this is not truck related but you guys have alot of knowlege so bare with me please I have a 1999 windstar my wife drives the locks qiuit working the have power checked fuse there is a aluminum box under the dash about 6"x6" with wires coming out of it when I hit the door lock switch it clicks and you can hear the door lock on drivers door click any ideas and what is this box thanks mike

do you get a whirrng sound when u hit the button?

I just hear a clicking noise under the dash and a slight clunk in the door like it is trying to activate the lock in the drivers door

only the drivers door? or all of them? sounds like the mechanism is faulty

all the doors make the sound except the right rear that has had problems for a while you had to hit the button several time to get it to work

the gears in the doors on the windstars go after a while, but you mean none are locking just make the sound?

its probably the mechanisms but not 100% on that, theres sounds like theres power getting to the power box but its not sending power to the doors

the power box is that the big aluminum box under the dash that clicks ?? what else does it control?

yes there is a aluminum box about 6"x6"x2" just left of the brake pedal mounted on the fire wall has 3 or 4 plugs of wires coming out of it .When I hit the switch on the drivers door you can hear a clicking noise coming out of this box and put your hand on it and you can feel the click???
