I have a 2000 Explorer Sport 4x4 and would like to remove the two plastic cowlings at the base of the windshield under the wiper arms. They are faded black plastic, and I would like to paint them.
Please let me know if you can help.

The wiper cowl is held on with clips and one screw on the driver's side. Simple removal. On the base of the wiper arms, you will see a small slide latch. Pull the latch up and remove the wiper arms. The cowlings are held on with simple clips. You will first remove the screw on the driver's side cowl. It is close to the center where the two meet. When I removed mine, I then just used a scrpaer to help pull up where the clips are located. It will just pop off. Reverse to reinstall.
