Windshield cowling wont stay down.......

Those plastic things up on the windshields where the wipers are by of the F-150's (cowlings) well the driver side always pops up from the other, I push it back down then it comes up later when driving. Iam not talking up like gonna fly off just about 1/4inch up from the other piece. Could I just glue this thing down or what? Thanks Jeff

There have been a few threads about this. I screwed mine together in the center and I also ran a screw down thru the plastic on each half. It has solved the problem. No screws are visible as they are in the inside "ridge" of the cowl underneath the hood. And can be removed if you need to take the cowl off.

I too have been experiencing this problem... I was going to use a small bit of rubber cement or hot glue to keep them together.... figured it would be easy to undo if needed and would not show if using just a small amount to keep them together.

I've noticed the same thing happening on my truck. I was waiting for my first oil change to bring it to the dealer and ask them to fix it. It doesn't affect anything, I think, but bugs me to look at it.

It's nice to see that Ford is on top of this! It's been an issue since 04. Wonder if they'll fix it on the 09s...

I have the same problem. I had it replaced once under warranty and now it is coming back up. Am going to try the dealer again before warranty runs out.

Yup, mine does the same thing, driver's side half pops up. What is the fix Ford is doing... repairing or replacing?

I guess Ford sometimes will replace them, but then over time the new ones may start popping back up too.

I just fixed mine tonight with a screw. Took less than 1 minute from popping the hood, getting a step stool, and zipping in one screw with my cordless drill. Sure beats wasting gas and hours of waiting at the dealer.

here's a pic that someone else posted on another forum to give you a general idea on where to put the screw:

Thanks for the pics SteveVFX4, I'll have a look tomorrow. I might bypass the dealer if the fix is this easy.

There is a TSB out on this problem.I had Ford fix mine. There is a flange under the cowl where the "J-hooks" on the cowl peice hook to,that has to be adjusted.Mine has been ok for over 4 months now, since the adjustment.
