Thanks Carlene,

That sounds pretty good. I noticed that you don't have a gallery here. I'd like to see some pics. You really should post some even if you're not through.

Thanks,

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Dec-01 AT 11:25 AM (EST)]OK Charles - I started a gallery, only thing is I only have a picture of the title in it right now. Will have to update it from my home computer this weekend since that's where all the photos are. Check it out after the 1st and hopefully I'll have it done.

I agree with what you said in your gallery, this restoration thing sure is a sloooow process.

Carlene,

Thanks for starting your gallery. That is too cool having the original title. I'm looking forward to seeing some more after the 1st. I've more to add after I go to the developer. I located a bodyman that I trust to do my cab corners and hopefully he will be starting in Feb/Mar. I hope to make significant progress this year! I hoped the same thing last year!! What is significant? All bodywork, cutting in the body color, painting the interior of the cab, frame detail and Mustang IFS install. We'll see.

I see we share the state of FL also.

I have a 91 F150 with quite a bit of surface rust on the frame. I would like to paint the frame and was wondering how much prep work would be needed to use POR 15 seal it? I live in Michigan so rust will be a continual threat. I assume that the POR 15 will work on the underside of the body as well?

It should work great for the underside - We're using POR-15 on the entire undercarriage of our '41 & painted the entire frame with it. Before we had a rolling frame, we'd prop it on this side or that to get it out of the way and no chipping or peeling.

As for prep work, if it's only surface rust, spray it with por's Metal Ready or OSFO (per whichever's instructions) then paint on the POR-15. If you have heavy rust spots, wire brush to get the heavy stuff off first then do the above. You'll need to rough up any smooth areas that you're gonna paint also. Sandblasting is probably the best prep, but with you truck being a '91, I'm assuming that you're gonna fix it with the cab & all on.

Keep in mind that if you get it on you and don't wash off almost immediately with their remover/thinner, it'll wear off in about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks.

I found this site the other day and they tell alot about their products - por15cr.com

Hey Carlene, thanks a lot! Actually I was planning to take the 91 mostly off the frame--the bed and front cap. The cab I was just going to raise just enough to get under it. It has become sort of a hobby and I do need something to keep me occupied. I really liked the pictures of your '41. It will look great when you finish it.

Regards

Marty

Thanks Marty.

We were hoping to have it done by this Nov. for the Turkey Rod Run, but it's not looking like it. I have more pic's to upload and some to get developed also, but it's tax season so haven't had time.

Best thing we've done is to try and do just about everything ourselves - sure does give you something to do plus the pride in knowing you did it yourself.
