I am in the midst of troubleshooting the old Ford. When on the rear tank I occasionally get lean trouble codes. The truck runs slightly worse on the rear tank. From a stop I have to give it more gas to get it going than I used too. Within the last 1200 miles, I have replaced both Fuel Pumps with Airtex brands. I have changed the fuel pressure regulator, and I ran a OTC Fuel Injection Cleaner through the injectors along with the Decarbonizer treatment.
Yesterday I was checking fuel pump pressures. The only thing I am within spec is WOT (Vaccum Plugged on Fuel Pressure Reg), there I am running 35psi. Engine Off I am running 32 PSI (spec 35 - 45 PSI), Engine On I am running 28 PSI (spec 30 - 45psi). These readings are on both pumps, I could find no fault to the rear pump. This tells me I either have a vaccum problem or a bad fuel pressure regulator. I wished someone made an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for this application. The condition of the Engine is good, I have 160psi in every hole. Truck has had a recent tune-up (plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter, cleaned the K&N)
Im sure that u could get an adjustable regulator for it. The regulator controls the fuel pressure and since its the same on both tanks id just grab up a new regulator and be done. By the looks of things the adjustable mustang regulator should fit ur truck, 302 and 460 show same part number on autozone website and i have an adjustable reg on my truck

You are right. The GP Sorensen replacement part is the same part number. I have emailed Summit as well as BBK to see what difference there may be and why they don't add the 7.5L to the application.
OK, I am digging up this thread because I have a similar problem. I ordered the 5.0 fuel pressure regulator and am about to send it back to Summit Racing. There is no way it is going to fit my 460. What year 460's are you guys running? Mine is a '96.
Thanks for the info. I figured that might have been my problem. I was looking at my invoice and I had ordered for the '86-'94 mustang by accident Thought I would double check first just to be sure. Time to send this one back and get another.
