What could be wrong??
'01 FSD w/ 7.3L. . . 95,000 . . . just changed oil and air filter . . . just made a 1000 mile round trip with no problems. Have had the truck for several years.
Got back yesterday (Friday) afternoon from said trip, it sat in the driveway overnight, and this morning it would not fire.
Turning over just fine (until i RAN THE BATTERIES DOWN), but no fire.
It's a little chilly here today so I cycled it a few times . . . still not firing.
Then I gave it a little "gas" while cranking (this sometimes gets it to fire when it's really cold), but nothing!!
Diagnostics is damn hard I know . . . but maybe one of you have a spark of an idea what might be wrong?!

Where are you located?
My first thought is your glow plug relay has failed.

I'm betting one of two things: batteries or glow plug relay. So the batteries, unless they are old, will benefit from a nice low amp charge overnight. Then turn the key to the RUN position, go under the hood and you will see a relay on the passenger side of the engine (to the left of, and slightly behind, the fuel filter). If you have a test lamp or a multimeter, touch each of the large posts and you should see 12+ volts on both posts. If you don't have a test light or multimeter, just take a screwdriver and jump the two large posts for about 30 seconds or so (you will hear/see a little spark when you jump the posts with the screwdriver). Then try to start the truck.

We've seen them go bad quickly and some last years and years. If you need a quick, cheap one NAPA has the GPR-109 for cheap ($29?). If you tell them it is for a Ford 7.3 they'll give you the GPR-110 for mucho $$$ ($100?). They are identical relays, just twisted 90 degrees. It will work on your truck...guaranteed.
