Tap on it and gently pry with a putty knife. If you haven't already bought a stat, here is a good 203* one. You will need to replace the top housing, the OEM stamped ones are crud and can leak when used again. Here is the link, see bottom of page for housing:

While you have the system drained, may as well install the hose that goes around the belt instead of through it. Here is the info for that:
