Rear Hubs

I needed to replace a failing rear wheel bearing on my '01, F-350, SRW. Everything was going perfectly, until it came time to re-install the hub. The new seal was visually different from the original. It has what looks like a thin metal sleeve at the inner diameter (unlike the original) with a veeeery thin layer of rubber coating it, it fit into the hub perfectly but it will not fit over the spindle shoulder that it seals on. I did an online search, and the new seal I have (Motorcraft PN BRS-116) comes up as the correct one. It is almost like the "inner sleeve" should not be there. Unfortunatly I will have to wait until Monday and bring in both the new and old to Ford parts to compare. Any thoughts on the seal? AM I missing something?

could you try NAPA tomorrow? Maybe they changed in mid year to a different spindle? Just an idea to explain maybe the difference,

I could give that a shot however the "slinger" (Fords term) which is installed between the seal and the inner bearing (it looks like a thin washer with 4 tabs) was damaged when I was trying to get the hub seal seated (the "metal" sleeve on the seal bent and broke it). I fear that I will have to order that at Ford, as I doubt NAPA would have that in stock, but you never know.
