I recently purchased an F-5 and man do i love it. My question is do you guys keep it in the same mode all the time. example starting up and shutting down on say 80hp economy? also for best econmy should i start up and warm up in stock and put it in econmoy before i take off? thanks
I leave mine in 80 econ most of the time, including start up. Sometimes use stock when its really cold just so the throttle is not as sensitive and tranny shifts softer. Oh and when other family members are using it, can't let them get spoiled!
I asked the same questions many times after i installed my DP. and mods. I came to the conclusion that it is best to start it in stock mode. I was told by many on here that the injectors like it better because it isnt as hard on them on the startup. So I shut down and start up in stock then switch after the oil and tranny are warmed up. This is just my way and maybe it dosent matter but it gives me some comfort that the truck isn't working as hard on the startup. Since we can shift on the fly it's no big deal, just the push of a button.. Jeff.
I asked Jody when I went there for live tuning. He said unless it is very cold, it's ok to leave it in 80e for starts. He said not to act the fool untill the engine is warmed up.
I've been starting mine in 80 eco... no issues so far (haven't had it long though).
Jody needs to come up with a "lock" so we can set our truck to stock and lock it in for those times the wife, friend, etc. is driving and we don't want them having too much fun
If it is below 50 degrees Jody has recommended that you start it and leave it in stock until the engine temps come up to operating temps. The cylinder pressures are high in his tunes. I start mine in 80e remotely even when it is cold but I don't run it hard (or at all usually) until it is warmed up. I have had mine for 20 months or so and no problems.

Its well below 50 here! I usually start it, let it run for a short bit, then kick it up to high idle while I finish getting ready to leave for work.
I NEVER have mine in stock. Ever. LOL.... Syn fluids and keep your foot out of it until it's warm like the others have said. But that goes for ANY engine IMHO.
