problem your going to run into changeing radiators is the way they fasten in. 80-84 1/2 strap in like yours, newer sit on a mount, and screw in.I remember a post about that not too long ago.you already have a v/8 radiator, so you can either co with electric, or go with a fan schroud, and a clutch fan from a 87 or newer.

That's a pretty small rad in there. I'd recommend getting one for a 460 equipped truck, that'll get you the biggest rad that came in there. An 83 F350 with the 7.5L will get you one that will match your current attachment system. You can modify your rad support to fit a later style rad, but, you need a later support to donate the lower rad brackets. I've done that, mainly because I had the radiator already.
The 83-84 rad will be an all brass/copper piece, while the 85+ ones are plastic tank, aluminum core in OE issue.
Either way, the 460 spec rad will probably be wider than your existing one, and you will have to move the drivers side saddle and upper mount over to the other set of mounting holes, and you will need to trim out the pre-stamped portion of your core support to expose the rest of the radiator to airflow.
As for an electric fan setup, for your application, considering the truck in question, and the fact that towing if at all will probably be pretty light, I'd do it.
I run a set I sourced form a 00 Chevy Malibu on my 460 truck:

They're fine for general on pavement use and idling around, but, my truck gets worked pretty hard off road, and my rad is probably in need of a good cleaning, off road, the temp does creep up, but, with a smaller engine, these particular fans would probably be plenty.
However, Ford did use some really good fans from the factoty, the most common being on the 3.8L Taurus, I will be going to at least one, maybe a pair of them, depending on which radiator I end up using when I relocate mine. They are a SERIOUS fan, on high speed, the startup spike is in the 120A range, run is 40A draw, but, they make up for it in CFM, the Taurus version moves around 3750 CFM, the Lincoln Mark 8 has another good one, and with similar amp draw moves 4300.
Aftermarket fans pale in comparison compared to what the OEM's use.

Ok, have removed all of the necessary body parts and got the engine and trans out on Monday evening but didn't have the camera with me so had to wait until today.

Here are some pics of the Crossmember and perches for your viewing pleasure...
