Hi everyone, I have a 1992 F150 which could use some better headlamps [and I don't mean the bulbs]. But I cannot figure out how to remove the plastic trim to allow access to them. There are two top screws that are very obvious, but the ones on the bottom seem to be blocked by the body. Is there something I'm missing here?
Brian, are you trying to remove the entire headlamp assy. or do you just want to change bulbs? The bulbs can be changed without removing the entire assembly. If memory serves me correctly you will need to remove the battery for better access, but the bulbs can be changed from the back side. If you are replacing the entire headlamp, the battery will need to be removed on one side, and the windshield washer resovior on the other side. the bolts that hold the assembly in, run through the radiator support, and are a pain to get out. There should be 4 bolts from the backside. The two screws you mention, only help hold the headlamp door on the truck. To remove it, the entire lamp assy. must come out. I believe one more screw, and a nut hold it on, in conjunction with the park/signal lamp. It has been a while since i had one of these apart, but i hope this helps a little. FOMOGO
Hey, thanks. That's the info I was looking for. I'm trying to take the whole thing out [not just the bulb], because it was yellowing [time to replace], and I really would like to see the road at night.
