fuel pumps not working

I have a 89 f-250 4x4 300 6, that has had a fuel pump issue since new. It will run great for a long time then act like it's out of gas with 2 full tanks.I have replaced both in tank pumps 2 times, the main pump 3 times, added a better ground to wireing harness to both in tank pumps, replaced the relay countless times, replaced the fuel filter so many times, I now buy them by the case. ford tech service said to replace the tank thing that all the lines go to, and I did that. I replaced the computer, and the injectors, then the regulator. I also replaces the tank selector 2 times. When the tuuck does it's thing there is no fuel pressure at the rail. I am not putting used parts in, only new. most times the truck will start after it sits for a week or 2. this time however, nothing. I am the origional owner, so there are no repairs that could be questionable. this truck is showing no codes. I am stumped, and could really use some wisdom.

Did u check the wiring at the eec relay. I have had problems with the wiring going to the eec relay loosing connection. When it did fuel pump didnt run. Then if i wiggled wires around it would be good till a good bump. Bout 2 weeks ago i changed out the plug and relay with parts from napa for 24 bucks. The problematic wire for me was the purple wire in the eec relay connector plug that goes into a fuseable link.

cleaned termanals, and no change. I can take a test light , hooked to ground, and make the fuel pump run, from touching wires on the back of the fuel pump relay, but it won't work on it's owne. I put in another fuel pump relay, an still have the same problem.

Have you tried your fuel cut off switch? Maybe it's getting week. Worth a try since you have tried everything else.

Does the check engine on when u turn the key to run? Do u hear two clicks after u turn the key to run but not start. With mine i didnt have a check engine lite. the eec relay actually engauges the fuel pump relay from what i have learned. Check the fusable link wired in with the eec relay. Also check the ground wires at the battery terminal. These will make the pumps not run either
The fuseable link is on the driver side around where the fuel pump and eec relay are. My 88 its a purple lookin wire. Just because u cleaned a relay dont make it good. I had the same relay drain my battery whenever it seemed fit. If u have a check engine light then it may not be the relays.

I'm a little confused, when your problem occurs, are the fuel pumps not running or are the fuel pumps running, but you still don't have fuel pressure? If so, have you checked or replaced your fuel pressure regulator? My apologies if this was a dump question.

fuel pumps are not running, there is no fuel pressure at the rail. It's quite a challange to change the regulator on this without removeing the plenum, but I will try that when I put in the new relays tomorrow

If the fuel pumps aren't running then I wouldn't mess with the pressure regulator at this time. It sounds like you've been concentrating in the right area. It definitely sounds like it's electrical in nature.

Thanks everyone, I'll keep you posted tomorrow, when I put in the new relays, and clean some more electrical connections.

I got the wiring plug from napa it was 11 dollars, since u have no check engine light id almost be certain it was either the relay, the plug or a broken fuseable link.
NAPAONLINE®
I cant find the part number online for the plug, but napa was the only place i could get it from and had it when they opened the next morning. Ill look for the reciept
