It all started with the truck not starting. No lights or anything. Then my boyfrind decided it was the ground wire.Replaced the ground wire to the battery and also the little ground wire.Truck was fine. Then it happened again. He decided it was the postive wire.Replaced that. Then it read code 22 MAP, and 32 EVP voltage below closed limit.Replaced the MAP sensor. Then I remembered it not starting about 2 years ago and it was the ignition modular. So I thought maybe it was that and not the ground or positive wire.Replaced that. Now is where it gets good. Now the truck gives codes: 11 system pass, 22 MAP, 41 No HEGO switching detected, 51 ECT/ACT circuit open, 54 ACT sensor circuit open, 53 TP circuit above max voltage, 32 EVP voltage below closed limit..Codes were checked twice. It still runs, although not the best, but at stops it either surges or quits. PLEASE HELP!! What did my boyfriend do to my truck?? Thanks. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated.
I would suggest rechecking the ground wires he replaced. Make sure they're clean and tight, and make sure all wires were put back. In some ground locations, multiple wires will be grounded in that spot. Sounds like a grounding issue to me...
Disconnect the negative battery cable (again?) to reset the codes. Check all plugs/connections for a clean connection, then run it again for new fresh codes.
Sorry for the late update. We replaced the EGR sensor and it ran the same.In the mean time I read a thread about the 7 and 8 spark plug wires.I didn't know if it was for a 460 engine or not.Well,I rerouted the no.7 plug wire , disconnected the battery cables, took it for a spin.Needless to say it ran like crap, started throwing codes as I was driving,( like before ) then all of a sudden, I guess the puter caught on.It runs like a scared cat except when I come to a stop.It will lunge or quit.Someone said to clean the IAC. The problem is I have no idea what it looks like or where it is.Can you please help!!!
Look up "Thermactor Air System."
I swear this sounds almost like my problem when my smog pump started having problems.
Could be completely different though.
Let me do some more research quick.
32 could just point to your fuel filter, so try replacing that. Also throw some SeaFoam in the gas tank to clean everything.
Have your battery tested, what is it charging at?
22 Map could just be caused by your TPS not working correctly.
The remaining codes all lead to 02 Sensor and fuel pressure. I would try testing the 02 sensors or just replacing them if you never have.
Then installing a brand new fuel filter if you haven't done so lately.
Since I replaced the EGR sensor and straighted out the plug wires the check engine light has not came back on.Now tomarrow may be another story. The battery was the first thing tested.Had it checked twice and it is good. You have really helped alot. Thanks DasCheckers.
We'll get this figured out yet!
I highly recommend disconnecting that battery for a whole night. Try it tonight if you can.
It will reset everything.
Then I recommend that you get a completely different scanner and re-scan the truck.
Different scanners read differently.
Let me know!
DasChecker you are my HERO. I found the IAC!!!! Will pull it off and clean it today.Yesterday when I drove it just idles bad when I stop but not when it's in Park. I's getting better. After I clean the IAC it should help.Thank you for your time and guidence.
