If i pulled the master cylinder off and it released my front brakes, could i take that as a indication that the rod needs adjusted? I didnt do it yet but i was just wondering if that could be a way to tell if the rod needed adjusted with actuall adjusting it and playing with it if i didnt need to.

Hey,xjcamaro89
how is your brake pedal feel?spongy or stiff.Your brake booster may be faulty. And When you remove the master cylinder there will be vacuum pressure holding it in place, you have to give it a good tug to break it loose. There is a rubber o ring that seals the master cylinder to the brake booster, it may came out when you pulled it off. Its harder to see because it fits in the lip. Just make sure that the o ring goes back in if it does fall out.
good luck

From what ive read the rod is adjustable and all that you need to do to access it is unbolt the master cylinder from the brake booster and slide the master cylinder off and the rod threads in and out, in for less brake and out for more brake, these adjustments are made by 1/8 and 1/4 turns and the rod. So the adjustment would be fairly small just enough to release the trapped pressure to the front brakes, if thats the problem. To find out if that is the problem im just going to unbolt the master cylinder and pop it off, eliminating the contact of the adjustment rod and the rod in the master cylinder, at this point if the rod needs adjusted the wheels should be free. If not then im feel like im down to two more options, its the hoses, or the master cylinder itself.
